Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) is a UK-based non-profit organisation campaigning for an end to the discharge of raw and partially treated sewage and toxic waste into the sea and inland waters.

A Bit About SAS

Since 1990, SAS have campaigned to clean up the rivers and coastal waters of the United Kingdom. At the end of 1999, the British Government agreed an £8.5 billion spend to improve the aquatic environment.

The pressure from SAS is working, but it must be maintained. The effectiveness of the campaign is due to the help and support of members and sponsors.

The UK is on its way to losing the 'Dirty Man of Europe' tag, but the issue of sewage pollution must be kept high on the public agenda and SAS can only do this with the funds that members and sponsors provide.

Continued help and support are vital as SAS push for implementation of appropriate improvements to achieve the goal of clean recreational waters.
