The 09 Afterburner maintains the overall theme that has made this design synonymous with the concept of the all rounder.
The new addition of the nose to tail double concave has only extended the speed of the board without losing an ounce of the flow, freedom and range of use which this board has always had. In fact, Greg perfected the deep double concave through the tail of the Afterburner. He has also slightly increased nose and centre width, so that the new Afterburner is a touch more fish-like, making it about halfway between a short board and a true fish.
All boards are glassed with a 2 x 4oz and a 3 /4 patch on the deck and 1 x 4oz bottom with a patch on the fin area. We give the boards the silky smooth Pro finish and they come standard with FCS M5 Glassflex Series fins.
SLX construction -
Super Lightweight Epoxy Construction. Instead of using traditional polyurethane blanks, fiberglass and polyester resin we have used more modern materials to achieve the SLX technology.We use a high density EPS – Expanded Poly Styrene core that is especially blown to our specifications to maximise strength but minimise weight.We then glass the board using high grade fiberglass and even higher grade Epoxy resin. We use these materials to get a strong outer shell to the board. This combination allows for natural flex patterns in the board similar to a traditionally constructed board but with some reductions in the overall weight of the board.
